Trio nabbed siphoning subsidised diesel, modified vehicles seized

KOTA KINABALU: The Marine Police arrested three local men involved in illegally siphoning subsidised diesel using modified fuel for vehicles during Ops Taring Gelora Aidilfitri here.

Sabah Marine Police Region 4 Commander Asst Comm Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman said the illegal operations occurred at an unnumbered premise along Jalan Bunga Raya at about 8pm on Monday (Mar 16).

He said the three arrested persons were directly involved in the illegal siphoning of diesel fuel at the premises and that they seized 17,850 litres of diesel during the raid.

“Investigations revealed that the suspects had modified five vehicles with additional storage tanks to conceal and transfer diesel illegally.

“Our raiding team also found a tank containing about 16,000l of diesel,” he said.

In total, he said 17,850 litres of diesel were seized, valued at approximately RM76,755 while the five modified vehicles and the storage tank were also confiscated, bringing the total value of seizures to RM325,205.

The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961. ACP Ahmad Amri said that marine police remained committed to combating the misappropriation of controlled goods, which undermines the economy and public welfare.

He urged the public to continue providing information to assist authorities in tackling such illicit activities.
