IPOH: A total of 34 accident-prone “black spots” in the state will be the focus of enforcement and monitoring by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Perak JPJ director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan said each district within the state has been assigned specific duty points, spread across seven main corridors throughout the state.

He said enforcement vehicles will patrol these areas at about 70kph while conducting “snap checks” to demonstrate the active presence of officers on the ground.

“The duty points are located at identified areas considered high-risk for road accidents.

“A total of 244 officers and personnel will be on duty throughout the ops starting from March 16 until March 29,” he told reporters during an ops yesterday.

Mohammad Yusoff added that the department also conducted bus inspections at depots from March 13 to 15 as a preliminary measure to ensure public transport vehicles were in safe condition and complied with all vehicle safety and technical requirements.

“Throughout the ops, the focus will be on nine major offences that frequently contribute to road accidents.

“They include exceeding the speed limit, failing to obey traffic signals, overtaking on double lines, driving in the emergency lane, not wearing seat belts or helmets, and queue cutting,” he said.

He said this approach aims to increase the perception of enforcement presence among road users, thereby making them more disciplined and more likely to comply with traffic regulations.
