MIC chief: Speak up through polling booth

THE Indian and Hindu communities should make their displeasure heard at the voting booth instead of reacting angrily to provocations, says Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran, Makkal Osai reported.

The MIC president was speaking at the opening ceremony of a chess competition for Selangor Tamil schools held in SJK(T) Sungai Renggam in Shah Alam.

Lately, demolition of temples, trampling of Hindu symbols, insulting the community and provoking religious sentiments against Hindus have been rampant, he said.

Despite countless police reports, the perpetrators managed to leave the country instead of being arrested, he added.

He also said the police have the duty to bring these men to justice, no matter where they run and hide.

Everyone in the community is angry, including himself, Vigneswaran said.

However, this is not the time to react in anger, he said, adding that they must make it count at the polling booth instead and use their votes to elect a government that will respect the people’s voices.
