KOTA KINABALU: An officer with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sabah has been charged with six counts of using forged documents to obtain payments for community programmes between 2018 and 2019.

Bakri Bibi, 53, pleaded not guilty before Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Court Judge Elsie Primus who read out the charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 468.

According to the charges, Bakri was accused of using false documents to claim government payments for food services and supplies for programmes held by AADK in Kunak and Tawau.

The total amount involved is estimated at RM19,000, which included claims to several community and drug awareness programmes in Kunak as well as the agency’s hiking event and community empowerment activities in Tawau.

The court set bail at RM30,000 bail with one local surety and ordered him to surrender his passport, report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office every two months and refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses.

The case has been fixed for case management on April 27.

The prosecution was conducted by MACC prosecuting officer Norsham Shaharom while Bakri was represented by Zahir Shah.
