PTPTN and Royale Chulan Hotel reach out to those in need through the “Raikan Syawal” programme

Children from local welfare homes celebrate receiving new Hari Raya clothing during the Raikan Syawal Programme, held as a strategic CSR collaboration between PTPTN and Royale Chulan Hotels and Resorts Malaysia at Jakel Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

PETALING JAYA: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) continues to foster the spirit of togetherness and compassion by supporting the underprivileged through the 2026 Raikan Syawal Programme with Orphans and Asnaf, held at the Royale Chulan Hotel, Damansara.

The presentation of contributions was carried out by PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim. Also in attendance were Boustead Hotels and Resorts chief executive officer Datuk Rosthman Ibrahim, PTPTN chief operating officer Mastura Mohd Khalid, as well as management representatives from PTPTN and Royale Chulan Hotels and Resorts Malaysia.

Organised since 2016, this programme is one of PTPTN’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. It serves as a platform to share blessings and bring smiles to orphans and the asnaf (underprivileged), ensuring they experience the joy and excitement of preparing for the blessed month of Syawal. For the first time this year, PTPTN has established a strategic partnership with Royale Chulan Hotels and Resorts Malaysia to host this programme, strengthening their joint commitment to welfare and community activities.

This year's programme featured two main activities: Raya clothes shopping and an iftar (breaking of fast) session. The shopping activity took place in the morning involving 100 recipients from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Asnaf Al-Barakh and Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pusat Jagaan Kasih Ehsan Sejati at Jakel Mall, Kuala Lumpur. Each recipient received a set of Hari Raya clothing worth RM200 and Raya cookies worth RM40, bringing PTPTN’s total contribution to RM24,000.

In addition to the iftar meal provided, Royale Chulan Hotels and Resorts Malaysia also contributed a total of RM5,000 to 100 orphans and asnaf through the opening of Simpan SSPN Prime accounts, with each recipient receiving an initial deposit of RM50.

Norliza said, "PTPTN is committed to implementing corporate social responsibility for the well-being of the community and the development of national education. Through this programme, PTPTN aims to nurture values of togetherness, concern and love within society."

She added: "We hope this contribution brightens the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations for the recipients and motivates them to study hard and strive for success. At the same time, this initiative aims to instill a culture of saving from an early age to ensure a more secure future for their education.”

Rosthman said, "For Royale Chulan Hotels and Resorts, community outreach has always been part of our commitment. We deeply value this collaboration with PTPTN as it embodies the spirit of giving and sharing, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.

“This initiative is also part of our ongoing efforts within the ESG agenda to establish Royale Chulan as a hotel brand that is inclusive and socially responsible. To us, Royale Chulan is not just about providing rooms or event spaces, but about creating spaces for togetherness and joy."
