SHAH ALAM: Police busted an international drug trafficking syndicate, arresting four foreign nationals and seizing over 116kg of cannabis buds worth RM9.35mil in separate raids.

“The drugs were believed to be intended for the international market,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (March 11).

Comm Shazeli said following the arrest, police detained another foreign man believed to be the main mastermind of the syndicate at a house in Kota Warisan, Sepang.

He said further inspection led to the discovery of 25 plastic packets of cannabis buds weighing an estimated 14.3kg.

On March 5, police arrested another foreign man and a woman at a condominium in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.

“During the raid, police discovered 136 plastic packets of cannabis buds weighing about 74.8kg stored in five suitcases,” he said.

He said all suspects, aged between 20 and 30, were single and believed to have entered Malaysia between late December last year and mid-February this year using social visit passes.

“Initial urine screening tests found two of the suspects positive for drugs,” he said.

Comm Shazeli said several items, including two cars, luxury watches and cryptocurrency, were also seized.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
