Illegal sand mining operation busted in Kota Belud


An excavator and a lorry seized by the Sabah Land and Surveys Department enforcement team during a crackdown against illegal sand mining in Kg Pintasan in Kota Belud.

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Lands and Surveys Department has busted an illegal sand excavation operation at a village in northern Kota Belud district as part of a statewide crackdown on illegal sand mining.

The department’s newly appointed director, Alan Chua Ming Ling, said they seized an excavator and a 13-tonne lorry during the operation at Kampung Pintasan around 9.45am on March 5, following a week of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
