RM3bil boost: Dewi initiative to aid 300,000 women entrepreneurs, says Sim

PETALING JAYA: The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry aims to assist 300,000 Malaysian women entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses through the Women Entrepreneurs Economic Fund (Dewi) Initiative.

Its minister Steven Sim said that more funds will be allocated for the small medium enterprises (SME) market.

“In conjunction with International Women's Day (IWD), I am not only handing out roses but I have also announced RM3bil for Dewi.

“Through this Dewi initiative, I aim to assist 300,000 Malaysian women entrepreneurs to expand their businesses! We are on the way to make Malaysian businesses great!” he said in a post on social media.

Dewi was launched in conjunction with IWD 2026, which is celebrated annually on March 8.

On March 5, Sim said the initiative is expected to benefit between 200,000 and 300,000 women entrepreneurs across the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) spectrum nationwide.

The initiative offers financing ranging from as low as RM1,000 up to RM3mil for women entrepreneurs and women-owned MSMEs, he added.
