Umno's doors are open for expelled, suspended members, says Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has opened its doors to former members who were expelled or suspended, as well as individuals who wish to join the party, in a move aimed at strengthening unity within its ranks, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president said in the holy month of Ramadan, the party was welcoming back those who had previously been removed from membership, inviting them to return and be part of the struggle of Umno.

"In that spirit, Umno is opening the doors of this Rumah Bangsa as widely as possible," he said in a statement on Friday (March 6).

Ahmad Zahid said the move was made in conjunction with the spirit of Ramadan, which emphasises reflection, forgiveness and the strengthening of bonds.

He added that past differences and mistakes would be forgiven to allow the party to turn a new page and rebuild unity among its members.

He said the Rumah Bangsa Committee, chaired by Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin would coordinate the process immediately in accordance with the constitution of the party.

"I hope that the effort would strengthen the party in continuing its struggle for religion, race and the nation, while ensuring a better future for the people and the country," he added.
