Cops tracking duo who escaped with victim's car after robbing him in Shah Alam


PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down two suspects involved in an armed robbery in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said police received a report from a local man in his 20s on  Thursday (March 5).

He said the incident occurred at about 1pm when the victim was alone at home before being approached by two unknown men, one of whom was armed with a parang.

“The suspects took the victim’s belongings, including a wallet containing cash, a laptop, a mobile phone, as well as house and car keys,” he said in a statement the same day.

The suspects then forced the victim to drive his own car to a nearby ATM to withdraw additional money.

“The victim later shouted for help after noticing the presence of members of the public while withdrawing the money, prompting the two suspects to flee using the victim’s vehicle,” he said.

He added that efforts to track down the suspects were ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery with a deadly weapon, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and caning upon conviction.

Members of the public with information are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Naqiuddin Nawawi at 012-3848103 to assist in the investigation.
