JOHOR BARU: A security guard has been sentenced to 21 years’ jail and 24 strokes of the cane for 13 counts of sexual crimes against his six-year-old illegitimate daughter.
The sentence was handed down yesterday by Sessions Court judges Nor Aziati Jaafar and Madihah Zainol in two separate chambers.
The 43-year-old man had pleaded guilty to the charges involving rape, physical and non-physical sexual assault, unnatural intercourse and making sexual abuse materials of the girl on Monday.
During the proceedings, the accused, who was unrepresented, requested for a reduced sentence on the grounds that he has to support six children.
His wife is unemployed and suffering from cancer.
The court sentenced him to a total of 21 years in prison starting from the date of his arrest on Feb 18, and 24 strokes of the cane.
In addition, the court also ordered that he undergo counselling throughout his prison sentence and to be under police supervision for two years after his release.
