Year Six pupil dies after collapsing during school assembly


SHAH ALAM: Police have confirmed the death of a year six student at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang after fainting during an assembly at a school in Kapar, on Friday (May 8).

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao said the 12-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the hospital after being taken for follow-up treatment.

"The victim was reported to have fainted at about 8.30am during an assembly at the school before being taken to HTAR for follow-up treatment. However, the victim was later confirmed dead at the hospital," he said when contacted on Saturday (May 9).

ACP Vijaya Rao said the results of the autopsy conducted on the child showed that no criminal elements were detected in connection with the incident.

"So far, the cause of death has not been confirmed due to pending laboratory investigations and the case is classified as Sudden Death (SDR)," he said.- Bernama
