Umno ready to welcome expelled Bersatu leaders without conditions, says Asyraf Wajdi

SHAH ALAM: Umno is open to accepting suspended or sacked Bersatu leaders and members into the party without conditions, Sinar Harian reported.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (pic) said the party had recorded about 17,000 new members through its online registration platform since the system was launched more than two weeks ago.

“Come back to the home of the Malays. Umno is ready to accept anyone without conditions.

“After all, they were originally from Umno too — it is like returning to one’s roots,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (May 9).

Asyraf also said those who had yet to sign up could complete their registration online in less than three minutes.

His statement came shortly after Bersatu announced disciplinary action against six party leaders, including the expulsion of two Kedah assemblymen and the suspension of four others with immediate effect.

In a notice issued on Friday night (May 8), Bersatu’s disciplinary board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan said Suka Menanti assemblyman Dzowahir Ab Ghani and Sungai Tiang assemblyman Abdul Razak Khamis had been sacked from the party.

The four other leaders were suspended from exercising their membership rights for two party election terms.
