Cops investigating report over house break-in in Gombak

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a house break-in at a residence in Taman Melawati, Gombak, involving losses estimated at RM800,000.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said the incident was discovered at about 11.30pm on May 7 when the complainant returned to the house at Jalan I-Satu and found the living room and several bedrooms ransacked.

“Further inspection found signs of forced entry at the back door of the house, which is believed to have been broken into by the suspect,” he said in a statement on Saturday (May 9).

ACP Khairul Anuar said police investigations found that the suspect is believed to have gained entry by prying open the grille and back door before searching several areas of the house.

He added that police forensic personnel managed to recover three fingerprints from the scene for further investigation.

“Checks also found that several pieces of jewellery and watches were believed to be missing, with estimated losses amounting to about RM800,000,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.

He advised the public to ensure their homes are securely locked and to improve security features to prevent break-ins.

Those with information related to the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station to assist investigations.
