Suspected cable thief found drowned in Sultan Azlan Shah Dam


IPOH: The body of a man who fell into the Sultan Azlan Shah Dam in Ulu Kinta has been found.

The body of the 32-year-old victim was found about 300m from the spot where he fell in.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received a call regarding the discovery at 11.22 am on Wednesday (March 4).

"A team from the Tambun fire station was dispatched to the location immediately. The victim's body was successfully retrieved and handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Previously, Ipoh police chief Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that a man, suspected of being involved in cable theft from a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) substation, had fallen into the dam.

He said the Tanjung Rambutan police station received information regarding the cable theft at approximately 12.40am on Friday (Feb 27).

Another suspect also fell into the dam and was rescued. – Bernama
