Sabah flood evacuees drop to 1,462, all in Beaufort district


KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in Sabah taking shelter at temporary relief centres dropped to 1,462 people from 467 families as of noon Sunday (March 1).

The Secretariat of the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee said in a statement that the decrease was due to the closure of all centres in the districts of Membakut and Tenom, with all evacuees allowed to return home.

In Beaufort district, the number of victims remained at 1,462 people from 467 families since Sunday morning.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast rain in several interior areas of Sabah on Sunday afternoon and night. – Bernama
