POPULAR singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza has refused to comment on the issue of her praying without wearing a telekung, which has sparked debate on social media, Harian Metro Online reported.
The songstress is of the opinion that issues related to worship need not be made into a polemic.
“I don’t need to respond again because the ustaz has already explained.
“At the same time, I am still improving myself and my practices. What I hope is that the Almighty will give me more strength and patience.
“It is not easy to be an artiste in an increasingly challenging world, where everything we do will definitely be the focus,” she said when met at the Jiwa Prihatin buka puasa event.
A viral photo showing Siti Nurhaliza performing her prayers in a robe (jubah) after attending a breaking of fast ceremony sparked various reactions among netizens.
The issue received the attention of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Faculty of Islamic Studies dean Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, who explained the singer’s prayers are valid.
> The Jerantut Breastfeeding Support Group is reviving the traditional berendoi (cradle) ceremony, a custom to welcome births with prayers, love and strengthening community ties, Utusan Malaysia reported.
The ceremony, which was held recently, was officiated by the Pahang social welfare, women and family development exco Sabariah Saidan.
A total of 12 young mothers were celebrated together with six baby boys and six baby girls.
The programme is not just about celebrating the birth of a baby, but also serves as a support space for young mothers.
Sabariah said that berendoi is not just a symbolic event, but a medium to strengthen the bond between mothers in the community.
“We want mothers to support each other, share experiences and build confidence in raising their children,” she said.
