HONG Kong star Elena Kong recently flew to Penang to learn how to cook two of its soul foods – asam laksa and hokkien mee (prawn noodles) – while celebrating Chinese New Year here.

China Press reported that Kong learned from a local friend whom she has known for many years.

On social media, she posted photos and captions, saying: “This trip to Penang was just to learn how to cook these two bowls of noodles – prawn noodles and my favourite, asam laksa!

“There are so many steps. It requires a lot of effort, helpers and most importantly, love!”

She also shared an emotional reflection: “Cherish the people who cook for you. Be grateful for every bite, because it’s all made with love!”

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a woman from Zhejiang province nearly lost her life after being stuck in a massive traffic jam for 19 hours while driving from Fujian to Hangzhou city.

At the hospital, she was diagnosed with multiple embolisms in both pulmonary arteries and even went into cardiac arrest at one point.

According to the daily, she barely left her seat the entire time, getting out of the car only once to rest during the peak return-travel period after the Lunar New Year holiday.
