KUANTAN: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will provide aid to two siblings who lost five family members in a house fire at Kampung Pamah Kulat, Raub, on Thursday (Feb 26).

In a Facebook post Friday (Feb 27), the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the welfare and education of Ruby Adalia Balqis Mohd Alawi, 19, and Ahmad Balia Murqam Mohd Alawi, 15.

"During a video call with the family, I was deeply moved by the resilience of Ruby Adalia Balqis and Ahmad Balia Murqam in coping with the loss of their loved ones," he wrote.

He also invited the teenagers to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri together, so they would not feel alone during this difficult time.

"Let us pray that the souls of the deceased are blessed, and that the surviving family members are granted strength and perseverance," he added.

The victims of the fire, Mohd Alawi Muhammad, 56; his wife Zaleha Adam @ Ibrahim, 44; and their three daughters, Ruby Adira Batrisya, 17, Ruby Adlina Banin, 14, and Ruby Azyan Barizah, 10, were laid to rest together at the Bukit Gelugor Muslim cemetery at 11.45 pm Friday.

Ruby Adalia Balqis, a matriculation student in Gambang, Kuantan, and Ahmad Balia Murqam, a student at SMK Dong, Raub, were not home at the time of the blaze around 3am. - Bernama
