SEREMBAN: There will be no post-election downtime for Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
The veteran politician, who wrapped up a steady and calculated campaign to defend his Rantau seat since nomination day on July 18, will be back in Wisma Putra to resume his packed ministerial schedule.
"On Tuesday (Aug 4), I will receive the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister for the Malaysia-Cambodia Joint Commission meeting which Malaysia is hosting this year.
"I was supposed to attend an emergency meeting of the Arab and Muslim nations in Jordan on Wednesday (Aug 5) on Israel's continued invasion in Al Aqsa but have since delegated this to our permanent representative who is very familiar on the issue," he said when met after voting at the SJKC Chung Hua polling centre.
Mohamad, who is also Rembau MP, said he would also be receiving the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, who was also his foreign counterpart, for another meeting next week.
"Malaysia will be hosting many Joint Commission meetings this year.
"There are going to be many incoming official visits, and I will also need to travel abroad.
"Given the uncertain global geopolitical situation, many emergency meetings and negotiations are scheduled to be held soon," he said.
In between the campaign period, Mohamad had to lead the Malaysian delegation at the 59th Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) and Post Ministerial Conferences in the Philippines.
He left two days after nomination day and returned on July 23.
Mohamad has been Rantau assemblyman since 2004.
Separately, Mohamad dismissed viral social media claims alleging that a Barisan Nasional victory would trigger a swearing-in ceremony at Istana Serting.
He brushed off the rumours as a calculated smear campaign designed to manipulate public perception against Barisan.
"That is simply psychological warfare by our rivals, a narrative manufactured to stir up public anger against us," he said, urging the people not to be swayed by rumours.
