KOTA KINABALU: Sabah expects to receive the remaining RM900mil of a RM1.5bil federal interim special grant by the end of this year, state Finance Minister Masidi Manjun says.
Federal and state governments are actively negotiating to ensure the funds reach Sabah within the year, according to Masidi.
“We are having a meeting on Monday to discuss issues relating to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) as well as the 40% revenue entitlement, and I am sure the remaining funds from the recent RM1.5bil announced would be paid,” he stressed.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the RM1.5bil grant during the May Kaamatan Festival, which includes a previously disbursed RM600mil payment.
Masidi stated this on Saturday following the state-level National Day and Fly the Flag campaign launch in Kota Kinabalu.
