Man killed after losing control of van, crashing into tree in Bintulu


BINTULU: A 31-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle accident when he lost control of the van he was driving and collided with a roadside tree along the highway near Colombia Asia Hospital here on Thursday (Feb 26).

The victim, identified as Wilson Lun Andrew, was trapped inside the driver’s seat of the van.

In a statement Thursday, the state Fire and Rescue Department said firefighters had to use specialised equipment to extricate him from the vehicle.

Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical authorities.

The body of the deceased has been handed over to the police for further action.
