Motorcyclist killed after crashing into car in Sibu


SIBU: A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at KM209 of the Sibu–Bintulu Road near the Sibu Jaya roundabout here early Wednesday (Feb 18).

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkifli Suhaili said the police received a report on the incident at 6.12am.

He said the accident involved a car and a motorcycle.

“Initial investigations found that the motorcycle, ridden by a 29-year-old man, was travelling against the flow of traffic towards Sibu Jaya when it collided with a car driven by a 51-year-old man heading towards the town centre,” he said in a statement.

He added that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the car driver was unhurt.

The collision caused serious damage to the front portion of the car and extensive damage to the motorcycle.
