KOTA KINABALU: Eight people were hurt in two accidents across Sabah over the past day.
The first incident involved a family of five, including two adults, 40 and 44, and three children ages four, seven and 10.
They sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a 15m-deep ravine along Kg Pituru Laut in Kota Belud, at around 8pm Tuesday (Feb 17).
Kota Belud Fire Station chief Elgie Bakuk said road users who saw the accident rushed to their aid and brought them up to the main road while waiting for help to arrive.
“All victims were later given preliminary medical attention before they were sent to the hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement.
Firemen wrapped up their operations on site at 9.07pm.

In the second mishap, three people were hurt while another was left unscathed following a collision near the Serusup junction at Tuaran Road, in the wee hours of Wednesday (Feb 18).
Tuaran Fire Station chief Kurong Ak Beki said they received a distress call at around 3.25am, and arrived at the scene six kilometres away at around 3.33am.
He said three people - a 24, 22 and 18-year-old man in one car were hurt while the 45-year-old driver from the other vehicle escaped unscathed.
The injured victims were taken to the hospital for further treatment, he said.
Operations on site were completed around 3.55am, said Kurong, adding that no other casualties were reported.
