Woman driving EV crashes into three vehicles, five injured

TEMERLOH: Five people, including a four-year-old boy, were injured in a four-vehicle accident on Jalan Tengku Ismail here on Sunday (Feb 15).

The incident, which occurred at around 5.30pm, was believed to have happened when an EV driven by a 31-year-old woman lost control and crashed into three other vehicles, including a motorcycle, according to Sinar Harian.

Temerloh District Police Chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasyim Bahron said initial investigations found that the woman was travelling from Temerloh town towards Mentakab.

"Upon arriving at the scene, the vehicle she was driving is believed to have gone out of control and crashed into a red compact car," he said.

"As a result of the collision, the car was pushed forward and hit a motorcycle parked nearby," he said in a statement on Monday ( Feb 16).

He said the EV driven by the woman also crashed into another vehicle, a blue compact car, parked in the same area.

According to Mohd Nasyim, the 32-year-old compact car driver is suspected to have suffered a broken right shoulder.

"Three other passengers, including a 29-year-old woman, sustained bruises to their abdomen, while a 28-year-old woman and a four-year-old boy suffered minor injuries," he said.

"All the victims, including the EV car driver, are receiving treatment at the hospital," he added.

Mohd Nasyim added that the motorcyclist and the driver of the blue compact car, both 43, were uninjured because they were not in their vehicles at the time of the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigations are ongoing.
