Unlikely Kiandee joining GRS but coalition should be open to idea, says Armizan

KOTA KINABALU: Talk that Bersatu vice president Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee will join Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is mere speculation, says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

The GRS deputy secretary-general said Kiandee is unlikely to leave Bersatu to join another party now.

“I see it as speculation because it is still too early.

“I don’t think Kiandee will make a decision at this point to join any party,” he told reporters in Papar on Sunday (Feb 15).

However, Armizan said GRS and its component parties should remain open to accepting anyone who wishes to join as long as they are committed to the coalition’s four core principles – Sabah First, Sabah Prosper, Sabah Forward and Sabah United.

“When everyone is aligned with local political parties, our voice will be stronger. We will be strong when we are united,” he said.

Kiandee had previously demanded for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down as Bersatu president.

The party recently expelled 17 members, including its deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
