KUALA LUMPUR: New government digital applications may soon be required to integrate directly with the MyGOV Malaysia platform to consolidate public services under a single “super app”.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo (pic) said these were among the measures being taken due to each agency having individual digital applications. However, he acknowledged that the effort would not be “straightforward”.
“The main goal is to pool all existing applications together. We also intend for a situation where applications targeted for development will have to be integrated directly into MyGOV.
“The challenge, however, is that existing applications are already being used. We do not want to stop them for the integration process.
“The integration process takes time and will require a stable platform,” he said during Minister’s Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Gobind was responding to a question by Bakri MP Tan Hong Pin who asked if the government intended to create a super app to consolidate all government services under one platform.
Tan also wanted to know if there was a timeline to achieve this, and the estimated overall cost.
Gobind said the MyGOV application was part of the Government Technology (GovTech) initiative to modernise and consolidate digital government services under a sole platform.
He said MyGOV presently covered 44 services across 16 government agencies.
“An additional 30 services will possibly be integrated this year. A phased approach will be taken to integrate existing applications such as MySejahtera, MyJPJ and MyBorderPass into the MyGOV application,” he said.
As of Feb 11, the MyGOV application recorded 1,567,491 downloads compared with 437,393 in December.
Gobind attributed the 200% increase to greater awareness of the application, which allows people to check their Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah eligibility and any unclaimed monies.
He said the MyGOV application used the MyDigital ID and Single Sign-On process to log in, ensuring users can access the various services with a single identity. He assured users that their personal data would be protected.
