KANOWIT: A 40-year-old local man was arrested for possessing a homemade ‘bakakuk’ shotgun and seven rounds of ammunition without a valid permit during an operation along Jalan Kanowit/Dap on Wednesday (February 11).

Kanowit OCPD Dept Supt Junical Ujal said the suspect was detained by a team led by Insp Daglish Dundang Lamat.

“The suspect was detained on suspicion of possessing a homemade shotgun (bakakuk) and seven rounds of ammunition without a valid permit.

“The case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960,” he said in a statement on Thursday (February 12).

He added that a four-day remand order has been granted against the suspect from Thursday to Sunday to facilitate further investigations.
