The Transport Minister said the tickets go on sale from 12.15am today, adding that the tickets are available for the travel period from Feb 13 to 22.

Loke said this follows the availability of the seventh ETS3 set which has just been approved.

“All ETS tickets for the travel period between Feb 13 to 22 have been completely sold out.

“This is equivalent to 131,879 seats. The additional 26,460 tickets by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) have already been snapped up as well.

“Overall, KTMB has offered an additional 46,404 train tickets for the Chinese New Year travel period – a 426% increase compared to last year.

“The additional tickets this year are owing to the seven new ETS3 sets as well as increased ETS frequency during the travel period,” he said during Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Loke said the Electric Multiple Unit Plus (EMU+) service will also be introduced during the Chinese New Year travel period.

He said only 43% of tickets have been sold so far.

“A six-car set will also be mobilised for the KL Sentral-Ipoh-KL Sentral route, allowing an additional 24 trips,” he said.

Turning to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period, the minister noted that 53% of the 224,196 available seats have already been reserved.

The seats cover the period between March 13 to 29.

“Any sale of additional train tickets will only be announced once the current number of seats are sold out,” he said.

Loke was responding to a question by Howard Lee (PH-Ipoh Timur), who asked about ETS tickets sales and additional services for the Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
