Where to watch the FIFA World Cup in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor

FEW sporting events capture the world’s attention quite like the World Cup. As the fever builds, cafes, mamak joints, sports bars and homes across the country are expected to come alive with passionate supporters and unforgettable match-day energy. 

While not everyone can witness the action live from the stadium, watching the matches surrounded by roaring supporters, giant screens and an electric atmosphere comes pretty close. 

Whether cheering for a favourite team or simply following the excitement of the tournament, here are some of the best spots across KL and Selangor to enjoy the atmosphere that makes the World Cup unlike any other sporting event.

NZ Curry House, Kuala Lumpur

Want to watch the games with the stunning backdrop of the Petronas Twin Towers? Then head to NZ Curry House along Jalan Ampang. 

Operating 24 hours a day, the venue is ideal for watching everything from late-night kick-offs to early-morning clashes throughout the World Cup. The tournaments will also be screened at its Wangsa Maju location.

Rock Cafe, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya

Located right next to Sunway University, this spot is a constant hub of activity at all hours and a familiar gathering place for students and Sunway residents alike. 

Beyond its wide range of dining options, this open-air food court transforms into a lively football viewing venue. Operating 24 hours, it ensures fans never miss a match.

Havana Bar and Grill, Bukit Bintang, KL 

This Latin-themed eatery in Changkat Bukit Bintang will kick off the World Cup craze with a watch party where fans can watch the showdown between Mexico and South Africa live on June 12 at 3am. 

Guests can enjoy food, drinks and a lively atmosphere as the tournament gets underway.

The Paddock, Petaling Jaya

Located inside X Park Sunway Serene, the food court has built a reputation as a lively gathering spot for sports fans, regularly hosting screenings for everything from football matches to MotoGP races. 

Equipped with four projector screens and four televisions spread across the space, fans are unlikely to miss a moment, no matter where they are seated. 

It operates daily from 12pm to 2am, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday nights if there is a major match throughout the World Cup season.

Healy Mac's Irish Bar and Restaurant, KL

The Irish pub offers a vibrant atmosphere that comes alive during tournament season with dedicated match screenings.

Fans can catch morning matches from 9am at its Changkat Bukit Bintang and Jalan P. Ramlee outlets in Kuala Lumpur. 

Meanwhile, the pub’s other branches which includes Bangsar, Publika, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Ipoh and Penang, which open later in the day, will screen all matches taking place before 3am.
