KUALA LUMPUR: A robbery gang responsible for around RM1mil in losses has been busted in a joint operation led by Bukit Aman.
At a press conference on Tuesday (Feb 10), Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the operation, dubbed Ops Shutter, was launched following a slew of break-ins, particularly at premises with shutter-type doors in Johor.
“This group has been operating in an organised and coordinated manner for several years, causing significant losses to victims and undermining the sense of safety within the community.
“The syndicate is led by a 22-year-old local man and consists of five individuals aged between 22 and 38.
“The members are repeat offenders who have been actively engaged in criminal activities from 2022 until October 2025,” he said.
He added that at least 32 cases have been linked to the group.
Investigations into the group led to the arrest of six suspects, aged 22 to 38, on Jan 24. The arrest included two members detained under the Security Measures (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).
“Investigations showed that the group operated only in Johor, but we are still probing the matter to identify other cases linked to them.
“All will be charged in the Johor Baru court on Feb 12,” he said.
