PETALING JAYA: When the party is facing pressure and trials, the stability of the party leadership is a priority, said Bersatu Women's Youth wing chief Nurul Ezzati Azmi.
In such an environment, she said, clear direction and calmness are essential so that there’s no diversion from the party’s struggle.
“The Bersatu Women's Youth wing reiterates its stance to continue to support the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in steering the party through a challenging political landscape.
”The president has proven his ability to lead in difficult circumstances with a calm, principled and experienced approach, in line with the spirit of the party’s founding.
”We believe the strength of the party lies in unity and internal discipline, not in differences of opinion that are openly expressed to the point of disrupting the harmony among members,” she said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 10).
Nurul Ezzati added that any leadership views or assessments should be discussed through prudent, closed-party channels to protect the dignity and future of Bersatu.
Additionally, she said that, to maintain the party's harmony and discipline, any actions that clearly violate the constitution or discipline, or threaten stability, must be dealt with firmly and fairly, in line with existing provisions.
“As the women's wing, we choose to strengthen, not threaten; support, not suppress, because a party that is being tested needs calm, not noise.
“The Women's Youth wing will continue to stand firm with the president to ensure that the party's struggle remains focused, intact and flourishing,” she said.
Meanwhile, Bersatu Youth public information head Harris Idaham Rashid noted that party vice-president Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee is not qualified to call for the president to step down.
He said this was due to the party's loss in the Sabah state elections.
“Bersatu lost all the contested seats. In addition, most candidates lost their deposits.
The Youth wing would like to see a united leadership team mobilised to achieve great success for the party,” he said.
Harris Idaham highlighted that it was best to take disciplinary action against those who seek to disrupt the party's stability through various plans to advance certain agendas, rather than allow the party's integrity to be destroyed from within.
Bersatu has been embroiled in an internal party crisis after allegations that its deputy president, Hamzah, was involved in efforts to sabotage the party and tarnish the image of its president, Muhyiddin.
Hamzah and four division leaders have been called to appear before the party’s disciplinary board on Thursday.
The internal crisis unfolded in parallel with a closed-door meeting of Bersatu leaders at Muhyiddin’s residence on Sunday night, officially billed as a gathering ahead of Ramadan but viewed by insiders as politically significant.
