TWO residents from Yong Peng, Johor, proved that disability is not a barrier to creating amazing artwork after their Year of the Horse paintings were printed on ang pows this year, China Press reported.
The first was created by nine-year-old Anna Ke Qing who has spina bifida, a condition that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly.
Her painting featured a pink pony surrounded by gold ingots.
The second design featured a multi-coloured horse and was decorated with plum blossoms, golden ingots and auspicious Chinese New Year sayings, painted by 23-year-old Ma Jie Xin who has cerebral palsy.
The red packets were printed by Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon, who is also the state health and environment committee chairman.
Ling said he has known Anna and Ma for many years and was inspired by their spirit of never giving up and their positivity.
> Malaysian singer Samantha Ee, who is a member of the all-girl pop group Four Golden Princess, bade a tearful farewell to her late husband, Datuk Tai Fah Chong, China Press reported.
During his wake at Nirvana Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Ee gave a tearful eulogy to her husband, who died on Feb 3 at the age of 78 due to cancer.
“Husband, since being with you in 2017, we cherished and loved each other, and we never once quarrelled. After marrying you, those were the happiest days of my life,” she said.
The 35-year-old singer said she will miss baking cakes with him and that their children will miss him dearly.
“I promise you I will take good care of them. The children and I love you. I will forever be your Mrs Tai,” she said.
It was earlier reported that Tai has pursued Ee while she was studying in Japan. His actions eventually won her over and they got married in June 2019.
