A HORRIFYING case of animal cruelty involving two young boys and fireworks in China’s Jiangsu province shocked social media users in the country, Sin Chew Daily reported.
CCTV footage showed two young boys playing in a residential area before noticing a Samoyed in a dog cage.
One of the boys lit a firework and dropped it into the cage, which shortly went up in flames.
The boys then shouted for help.
“It’s on fire!” one of the boys could be heard yelling.
As the flames got bigger, the Samoyed remained trapped inside the cage and could be heard letting out agonising cries for over three minutes before succumbing to the flames.
The incident sparked public outrage online, with Internet users strongly condemning the boys’ actions.
The dog owner, known only as Jiang, tried to seek justice for her beloved pet whom she had raised for over seven years.
However, the boys’ parents attempted to settle the matter privately by offering 6,000 yuan (RM3,400), saying that it was “only a dog”.
Jiang refused the offer and instead demanded an apology.
> What was thought to be a simple case of food poisoning took a dramatic turn when police in China’s Zhejiang province discovered that the victims laced their own food with rat poison to extort money from an online seller, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The incident took place recently in Taizhou city when a married couple reportedly suffered from internal bleeding after eating cabbages they had ordered online.
Police initially suspected that old newspapers used to wrap the cabbage may have been exposed to rat poison.
However, the investigation later revealed the couple had colluded to poison themselves with the intention of blackmailing the online platform which sold the cabbages.
