Wanted gang member arrested with cooperation from India, Thai cops


PETALING JAYA: A wanted gang member has been arrested with assistance from Thai and Indian police and brought back to Malaysia.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said that the suspect, who is with the TR Gang, was arrested on June 3 and an Interpol Red Notice had been issued earlier on May 7.

"The suspect was arrested with the cooperation of Indian and Thai authorities while on a flight from Chennai, India, to Bangkok, Thailand.

"The suspect also has records involving various serious offences, including murder, armed gang robbery and causing injury with a weapon," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 3).

He said the suspect will to be charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which makes it an offence to be a member of an organised criminal group, at the Shah Alam courts on Thursday (June 4).

"The police expresses its appreciation to the authorities of India and Thailand for their close cooperation, while reaffirming its ongoing commitment to upholding the rule of law to ensure national security," he said.
