IPOH: Police seized approximately RM94,000 worth of drugs and arrested three men during an operation in Lahat on Tuesday (Feb 3).
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad (pic) said the drugs, believed to be 32kg of ganja, were found hidden in a lorry at Jalan Pengkalan Utama 4.
The discovery was made at about 7pm during an inspection of a special compartment located at the driver’s side of the vehicle.
“We found 33 plastic packages wrapped in green and transparent plastic that contained compressed blocks of dried leaves believed to be cannabis," he told a press conference on Thursday (Jan 5).
Those arrested include a 37-year-old foreigner and two locals aged 17 and 50.
ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the syndicate, known as “Boy Lembu”, used the lorry as a temporary storage facility to avoid detection.
The vehicle had reportedly been left at the location for about four months.
Investigations suggest the syndicate has been active since January 2025, and the seized drugs could have supplied up to 42,000 users.
All three suspects have prior records involving criminal or drug-related offences.
The foreign suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while the two local suspects tested negative.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, and the suspects have been remanded until Feb 8.
In a separate case, a 37-year-old unemployed man was arrested at a house for possessing 114g of suspected methamphetamine.
The drugs, worth about RM13,680, were found in 17 transparent plastic packets.
The suspect, who has 10 prior drug-related offences and tested positive for methamphetamine, is also being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
