SHAH ALAM: Nearly two dozen suspects linked to three separate scam operations in the state have been arrested following a series of raids by Selangor police.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the raids were conducted in Bandar Sungai Long, Seri Kembagan and Puchong.

The three operations, conducted between Jan 23 and 28, led to the arrest of 20 suspects, including one local, he said during a press conference at the police contingent headquarters here yesterday.

Two of the three busted syndicate were found to be offering bogus part time jobs to victims while the third operated an investment scam.

“Investigations into the first group showed that it had been in operation since Dec 25 and were targeting Australian and Italian victims.

“The suspects would find and convince victims into taking up the supposed part-time jobs via social media and online sites.

“The second would target Chinese victims overseas and has been in operation since November 2025.

“The third group was also found to be active since December 2025 and were targeting Pakistani victims by promoting their so-called jobs via TikTok,” he said.

He added that all foreign suspects entered the country with social visit passes and job visas.

“Investigations are still ongoing as it is a bit difficult to ascertain the scope since they were targeting victims overseas,” he said.

In an unrelated matter, the probe into cases of shootings in the state are still ongoing with investigations having identified several “positive” signs.

“We are working closely with Bukit Aman, and as operations are still ongoing, I cannot go into exact details. However, what I can say is that these operations have led to positive results and signs,” he said.

Comm Shazeli, when asked if the shooting was related to the organised crime group known as “Captain Praba”, refused to elaborate.

On Jan 4, a local man was shot dead in an incident at a restaurant in the Banting area.

Three days later, on Jan 7, another man, aged 43, was gunned down in Taman Wangsa.
