Efforts to put out Kuala Langat forest fire now into second day


PETALING JAYA: Efforts to extinguish a forest fire in Kuala Langat have entered into a second day.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Zone 5 (KLIA) Chief Mohamad Issmanto Md Pono, when contacted, said that the fire that engulfed nearly 15ha of forest had been extinguished with a further 6.9ha still up in flames.

Three officers and 38 personnel from various agencies are currently part of the fire extinguishing efforts.

"The fire is still active but will not affect nearby housing areas and water treatment plant," he said.
