KUCHING: The Sarawak Transport Ministry is closely monitoring the helicopter crash near Long Lellang and remains in contact with the relevant authorities for the latest verified information, says its minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, Lee said his thoughts and prayers were with those on board and their families.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the BO-105 helicopter, bearing registration number 9M-LLF, was operating a Flying Doctor Service flight with five people on board, including the pilot.
"The Flying Doctor Service is an important lifeline for our rural and remote communities in Sarawak.
"At this stage, our priority is the safety and wellbeing of all those involved,” Lee said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 8).
He urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the relevant authorities to carry out the necessary operations and investigation.
Lee added that the state Transport Ministry would extend its full cooperation to the relevant authorities where required.
"We pray for the best possible outcome and for the smooth conduct of the ongoing operations," he said.
