PETALING JAYA: The doctor among the five people killed in the helicopter crash near Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram, Sarawak, on Tuesday (Sept 8) has been identified as Dr Ainul Baroah Kamaruddin from Kelantan.
Her sister-in-law, Nureez Mohd Pauzi, confirmed Dr Ainul's death in a Facebook post following the crash.
“The Health Ministry helicopter carrying Kak Nureez’s sister-in-law crashed in Miri. I am getting ready to head to the airport,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
She also posted a video of herself boarding a plane heading for Sarawak in a Facebook story.
Dr Ainul is one of five passengers aboard the BO-105 helicopter that crashed.
The identities of the other four on board have not been confirmed.
Earlier, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad Dzukefly confirmed that four ministry personnel and one pilot were on board the helicopter.
The healthcare personnel were part of the Flying Doctor Service programme.
He added that current search and rescue (SAR) operations are ongoing, together with medical personnel and the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), after the incident.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has also confirmed the crash, saying it received notification from Flight Information Services at 3.58pm.
