Lojing slope repairs to start in March, says Nanta

GUA MUSANG: A temporary road diversion will be constructed for motorists using the Jalan Lojing-Gua Musang route pending the completion of slope repair works at the affected area, said Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (pic).

The Works Minister said repair works on the slope along Route FT185 at Section 107.6 on Jalan Lojing-Gua Musang are expected to begin in March.

He added that a temporary road diversion would first be constructed to allow the route to be reopened to motorists.

“As the project director, the Public Works Department’s slope engineering branch would be given the responsibility of planning, managing and supervising the slope’s maintenance work.

“The long-term contract for the implementation of maintenance work for this slope reflects the Madani government’s concern and commitment to continue improving the quality of road infrastructure, including slopes, for the comfort and safety of road users,” he told reporters after visiting packages 3B and 3C of the Central Spine Road project here yesterday.

The route had to be fully closed to all types of vehicles due to a landslide on Dec 3 last year.

On a separate matter, Nanta said the government has allocated RM96mil to upgrade the East-West Highway (JRTB), involving sections in Kelantan, Bernama reported.

On Sunday, he said the government had also allocated RM350mil under the First Rolling Plan of the 13th Malaysia Plan to upgrade the JRTB.

The project, involving Route FT004 in Perak, aims to make the road more resilient and comfortable for motorists, Nanta added.

He also said that preliminary work for the project would commence this year and could be fully completed next year.
