Fire breaks out in Kuala S'gor illegal dump, Bomba tackling blaze


PETALING JAYA: A fire involving a pile of domestic waste measuring, with two active hotspots identified, broke out at an illegal dumping site at Batu 14, Kampung Serdang, Kuala Selangor.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 11.33am on Wednesday (April 1).

“A team from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene, located about 24km away, and arrived at noon,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said firefighting operations are ongoing, with personnel using two hose lines spanning about 300 feet.

“Water is being sourced from an open water supply, with assistance from a portable pump provided by the Kuala Selangor District Council’s Pantas unit,” he added.

No casualties have been reported.

Ahmad Mukhlis said a total of 11 personnel and one fire engine were deployed in the operation, with assistance from the Kuala Selangor District Council and the Selangor State Secretary’s office.
