IPOH: Police arrested three men and seized approximately 1,000 meters of stolen Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) cables valued at RM50,000 during a raid in Ayer Tawar, near Manjung, on Thursday morning (Sept 10).
Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the suspects were apprehended at around 7.00am after police intercepted a lorry containing 43 cut lengths of ABC 3 x 150mm² cables clearly bearing TNB markings.
"The arrests and seizure followed a report lodged by TNB at 4.39am regarding stolen electrical cables in the Kampung Sungai Ramai area," ACP Hasbullah said in a statement on Friday (Sept 11).
The three suspects have been remanded for four days until Sept 13 to assist in ongoing investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 235 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for damaging or tampering with network facilities.
