KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Madani Carnival, held in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day celebrations, serves as a key platform for the government to bring its policies, services and welfare initiatives closer to the urban community.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the three-day event, which kicked off on Friday at Stadium Bola Sepak KL, reflects the government’s commitment to easing the cost-of-living burden by bringing government services and initiatives, including Jualan Rahmah, directly to communities.
“Today (yesterday), we launch the Kuala Lumpur Madani Carnival in conjunction with Federal Territories Day, and at the same time, the Putrajaya Open Day is taking place in Putrajaya. Various programmes have been arranged to celebrate Federal Territories Day 2026.
“I invite all residents to come and enliven the KL Madani Carnival, which runs until Feb 1 at the stadium,” she said after launching the carnival yesterday, Bernama reported.
Meanwhile, the Federal Territories Department said in a statement that it had, in collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), handed over the Lindung Kendiri and Lindung Kasih scheme benefits to five recipients at the carnival launch ceremony.
In addition, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council provided 1,000 basic food baskets for the asnaf and hardcore poor, which can be collected at its counter throughout the carnival.
“The Federal Territories Department is also providing 200 extra food baskets for the non-Muslim poor. Eligibility can be verified at the e-Kasih counter at the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Prime Minister’s Department’s booth,” the statement said.
The three-day KL Madani Carnival features a range of attractions from Jualan Rahmah and community events to review and advisory services offered by government agencies via the one-stop centre concept.
The Kenduri Parlimen Bandar Tun Razak, held in conjunction with the carnival, embodies the spirit of togetherness, offering the local community an open and inclusive feast in line with the spirit of Malaysia Madani, which emphasises unity and shared well-being.
The carnival is also enlivened by the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory GastroSeni Festival, which blends gastronomy with local arts and culture, reflecting the federal capital’s cosmopolitan identity while creating economic opportunities for traders and artists.
