PAS leaders tight-lipped over matters discussed at Bangi retreat

SHAH ALAM: PAS leaders who attended the party’s retreat at a hotel in Bangi have remained silent about the matters discussed since the meeting began on Friday (Jan 30).

PAS Central Working Committee member and Perikatan election director-general Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he could not disclose the contents of the discussions.

"I can’t share," Sinar Harian quoted him as saying briefly on Saturday (Jan 31) when asked whether the meeting touched on the current situation within Perikatan and leadership-related issues.

On Friday (Jan 30), PAS’ top leadership, including party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang gathered at a hotel in Bangi for the three-day retreat, which runs until Sunday (Feb 1).

Also present were PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad, Perikatan Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari and Muhammad Sanusi.

Meanwhile, PAS Youth information chief Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar said that the retreat was merely a routine annual programme.

"Streamline key performance indicators (KPI), tasks to be carried out and the party’s operations as usual," he said.

Previously, Abdul Hadi did not attend a meeting involving leaders of Perikatan component parties at the residence of Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Thursday (Jan 29).

However, his political secretary, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman said that the Marang MP was unable to attend due to a last-minute change in his schedule, adding that Abdul Hadi’s views had been conveyed in writing despite his absence.
