Pahang police urge traders to apply for permits to sell firecrackers, fireworks

KUANTAN: Pahang Police are calling on traders to apply for permits to sell firecrackers and fireworks in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations to avoid legal action.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said that so far, his department has received several permit applications to sell firecrackers.

"The permit applications are the same as in previous years. We continue to screen and consider each application based on the conditions that have been set," he told reporters after the Pahang police retirement celebration for 2025 at a hotel here on Wednesday (Jan 28).

Meanwhile, he also advised the public not to set off firecrackers, especially after 12 midnight, because the loud noise could cause public disturbance.

"If set off at that time, it can be categorised as a public disturbance, and action can be taken," he said, advising the public to maintain the harmony of their respective areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yahaya said a total of 89 Pahang police veterans who completed their service in 2025 were celebrated as the highest recognition of their services and sacrifices to the country. - Bernama
