Govt unveils dashboard tracking MA63 progress

KUALA LUMPUR: The public can now remotely track the implementation progress of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) following the launch of an official digital dashboard.

Users can access the dashboard via the website of the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division (BHESS) under the Prime Minister’s Department.

It features verified information on the progress of the 29 key demands outlined in the MA63, of which 13 have been fulfilled.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, in launching the dashboard, said it would allow the public to view background information related to MA63, the Inter-Governmental Committee Report, and other related details.

He hoped the new dashboard’s transparency would serve as both an official reference source and ease negative public perception and confusion on MA63’s implementation.

“We intend to ensure that Malaysia remains a strong and intact united nation.

“What we need is to foster unity and stability, and most importantly, mutual understanding between the states and the federal government.

“By enhancing public understanding of the substance of MA63, let us move forward harmoniously for the future of our country,” he said while launching the dashboard in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 28).

Fadillah also invited the public to share ideas on how to better facilitate the implementation of MA63 with the dashboard’s information.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud promised more improvements to the MA63 Dashboard in an upcoming second phase.

“The second phase will see continuous enhancements to several of its features, including real-time updates of the status of matters under MA63 by the ministries and agencies directly involved.

“This will help significantly as previously, information related to the implementation of MA63 was scattered across various platforms, without a comprehensive and easily accessible public reference point.

“Thus the MA63 Dashboard will become an integrated monitoring platform to enable information to be conveyed more accurately, systematically and in real time, in line with the principles of transparency and reform,” he said in his speech at the launch on Wednesday.

Currently, 16 of the remaining unfulfilled demands under MA63 are still being monitored and under ongoing discussions, according to Fadillah
