Insken chief Viviante first Malaysian to be awarded WEF Public Social Innovator

PETALING JAYA: National Entrepreneurship Institute (Insken) chief executive officer Viviantie Sarjuni has become the first Malaysian to receive the 2026 Public Social Innovator Award for social entrepreneurship at the recent World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim praised Viviante in a press release, saying the conferment by the Schwab Foundation in collaboration with WEF reflected her strong leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing social entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth.

“This recognition makes her the first Malaysian to receive the prestigious award, bringing honour to the nation on the international stage.

“This achievement reflects Puan Viviantie’s leadership, dedication, and strong commitment to empowering entrepreneurship, social enterprises, and inclusive and sustainable economic development

“I am confident that this recognition will continue to add value to the national entrepreneurship ecosystem, especially for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” he said on Thursday (Jan 22).

Sim also noted that during Viviantie’s time in Davos, the latter had participated in various international workshops and engagement sessions involving global leaders and social innovators.

He said the knowledge, experience, and global best practices gained from these sessions will be brought back to Malaysia and will benefit Malaysia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
