Cops nab local for robbing Vietnamese of RM8,000


KUALA LUMPUR: A man who allegedly robbed a Vietnamese woman here was arrested within a day of the incident.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said that the 23-year-old victim was robbed on Monday (Jan 19) at about 1pm in Taman Sri Bahtera.

"Just before the robbery, the victim had been praying at a nearby shrine. Around RM8,000 worth of items and money, including her handphone, were stolen during the robbery.

"Acting on the report, the police arrested a 24-year-old man in the same area at around 9.15pm the same day,” ACP Mohd Rosdi said when contacted.

He added that the suspect, who works as a burger stall helper, had a prior record with 12 criminal and narcotics offences.

“The suspect has been remanded until Friday and investigations are still ongoing,” he said.
