PETALING JAYA: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) denies that the man arrested for possessing over 30,000 child pornography videos and images is a member of its staff.
UKM said Nur Fitri Azmeer Nordin, is a former student who completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) studies in 2021.
"We deny that he is a university staff member. As a higher education institution, UKM is committed to ensuring a conducive and professional learning environment for all students," it said in the statement on Wednesday (Sept 2).
Previously, The Star reported that Nur Fitri was jailed in the United Kingdom in 2015 for child pornography offences was later allowed to resume his studies at UKM, eventually pursuing a PhD after enrolling in 2016.
UKM defended its decision then, citing his academic abilities and good conduct during his time at the university.
